Un 1 de septiembre pero de 1996 se lanzaba Virus este fue el primer sencillo desde la década de 1980 Women in Uniform que no aparece en ningún álbum de estudio oficial de Iron Maiden. Sin embargo, se presentó como una pista nueva en la primera retrospectiva de la carrera de la banda: el doble disco de 1996 Best of the Beast . Es la única canción de Iron Maiden atribuida a los dos guitarristas de la banda. Nunca ha sido interpretada en vivo por Iron Maiden, pero Blaze Bayley la interpretó varias veces en su carrera en solitario.
